Strategic Financial Review

Understanding options for managing your earnings and risk must be evaluated in context with the strategic financial goals for your institution. Too often strategic planning sessions establish unrealistic, or worse, unattainable financial goals. Farin’s Strategic Financial Review provides clarity to the realities and provides a dialog between management and/or the board on the tradeoffs that exist in meeting desired financial goals.

In this engagement, FARIN will review prior financial trends, current ALM outputs, plans, policies and practices and deliver a written and in-person report of issues, concerns, and possible strategies to address risks and/or items of critical need.

At the completion of the review, FARIN will deliver the findings in meetings with your team and discuss specific findings and issues, and explain and/or educate all on issues of concern.

Balance sheet vs. Yield optimization
Capitalization needs
3-5 year capital plan
Overview of major loan and share pricing practices
Review of ALM risk levels, limits, and modeling practices

Most recent ALCO package
ALM, Liquidity and Investment policies
2-3 year projection of future performance under all interest rate scenarios currently tested
Assumptions related to life and repricing of non-maturity shares in the ALM model
Past 6 months of rate sheets for loans and shares along with competitive survey data

Capital Planning

Having a Capital plan in place is an integral part of your Institution's overall strategy. With the increasing emphasis regulators are putting on Institutions to maintain capital levels, having a detailed plan is critical. In today’s environment of shrinking spreads, being able to develop an overall capital plan is time consuming and requires a high degree of expertise.

Over the years, FARIN has assisted both newly chartered and seasoned Institutions with reviewing and helping with developing capital plans. The process of capital planning is closely intertwined with asset/liability management.
